On 2 January 1984, a fire was set to the car of a prison guard, which was parked in the inner courtyard of a building. The flames spread to another vehicle. Mr. Ceraso, who lived in the building, tried to extinguish the fire but was killed when the fuel tanks of the two cars exploded. The attack was claimed by the “Proletari per il Comunismo” (Proletarians for Communism), a group that appeared only on this occasion.
