Antonio Corrado. English version

1975

October 29, Rome
Antonio Corrado, 21 years old

Precisely on the evening of October 29, 1975, Antonio decides to go to the cinema with a friend of his. Here his end begins, in the same hours a boy who lives a short distance from him prepares to go to a political meeting and always in the same hours faceless killers prepare for their mission of death. Everyone prepares without knowing that in a few hours their destiny will cross forever. Let’s go out together with Antonio who, with his friend, goes to the Palazzo cinema in Piazza dei Sanniti. The almost deserted streets, dimly lit, by the windows of everyday life. Antonio and his friend enter the cinema and we leave them to their film. Let’s now go to Via dei Rutoli where a meeting of ‘Continuous fight’ is held, here goes the neighbor of Antonio Corrado to whom we now give a name, Emilio Petrocelli. It’s recently past midnight, the movie is over so Antonio and his friend leave the cinema. To return home to Corrado it would be better to go through Via degli Ausoni, but he decides to accompany his friend. They start via Via dei Sardi and arrive at the intersection with Via dei Marzi they separate and Antonio continues to Via dei Sardi. The road is deserted, arrived about twenty meters from the intersection with Viale dello Scalo di San Lorenzo, he only has time to notice people approaching him and shooting him. Antonio falls to the ground and the killers run away. In the same minutes Emilio Petrocelli leaves Via dei Rutoli and heads towards Via dei Sardi to return home. When Petrocelli arrives at the intersection of Via dei Sardi and Viale dello Scalo in San Lorenzo, Antonio Corrado has already been hit.

Corrado arrives corpse in the hospital. He was hit by four bullets: two in the head, one in the shoulder and one in the liver. Two people shot, with two pistols of different calibers: a 38 caliber and a 22 caliber. Investigations immediately find a major obstacle: the motive. Antonio Corrado did no political activity, he had no enemies, no shadow in his life. The same goes for his family. There is only one hypothesis left: the exchange of person, the tragic mistake. Hypothesis that he finds comfort in the fact that Emilio Petrocelli had to pass in Via dei sardi just in the minutes in which Antonio Corrado is killed. Petrocelli lived near Corrado’s house and had a certain physical resemblance to him. In addition, that evening they were dressed in a similar way. Petrocelli was a militant of “Continuous fight” and was not well regarded by far-right militants. But why kill Emilio Petrocelli? For revenge maybe. On October 29, 1975 in Rome unknowns shot a 16-year-old boy, Mario Zicchieri, in front of a headquarters of the MSI. Mario Zicchieri had only one ‘failt’, being a sympathizer of the Msi.
