1976

April 27, Milan
Gaetano Amoroso, 21 years old, student

Gaetano Amoroso, together with other comrades of the anti-fascist Revolutionary Committee of Porta Venezia, was attacked and stabbed on the evening of April 27, 1976, in via Uberti, by a group of fascists (Cavallini, Folli, Cagnani, Pietropaolo, Terenghi, Croce, Frascini, Forcati) all coming to the headquarters of the Msi in via Guerrini. He dies on April 30th.

Gaetano Amoroso was 21 years old, worked at Acfa as a buckle designer and, a student-worker, in the evening he attended the last year of the evening course at the Scuola artistica del Castello which now bears his name.

He had joined the League of Red Wind Artists at a very young age, a cultural body of the Marxist Leninist Communist Party (formerly the Union of Communists), in which he had found a way to express his political and artistic needs, painting murals.

The fascist presence within the neighborhood in which he lived and a strong anti-fascist push after the killing of Claudio Varalli and Giannino Zibecchi pushed him to create and organize, together with other comrades, the Anti-fascist Committee of Porta Venezia.

It was his active participation in the social political struggles for communism that attracted him the hatred of the neo-fascist groups, who organized the ambish to him and his friends on April 27, 1976, attacking them with a knife in via Carlo Goldoni, in the Porta Vittoria area. After the murder, a plaque commemorating the fact was posted on the corner of via Goldoni and via Giulio Uberti.
