On duty at the ‘Le Nuove’ District House in Turin, he was in charge of checking parcels and correspondence, a risky job that Giuseppe carried out rigorously. On January 19, 1979, near his home, at 7.10 a.m., half an hour ahead of the usual time, he went to his car to go to work. Two individuals get off a red 128 (two other men stay in the car) reach him behind and hit him with ten 357 Magnum gunshots killing him instantly. The murder is claimed with a phone call to ANSA: “Here First Line. We killed Giuseppe, a servant of the state. A statement will follow.” The press release is found around 11 am in two cabins of Corso Re Umberto and Corso Regina Margherita. Giuseppe Lorusso has just turned 30 years old, leaving his young wife Rosa and two children at an early age: Daniela, 2 years old and Domenico, 9 months old.

Giuseppe Lorusso was recognized by the Ministry of the Interior as a ‘Vitm of Duty’, pursuant to Law 624/1975.

On June 15, 2004, he was awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Merit in Memory.

Giuseppe Lorusso is named after the district house of Turin, together with Lorenzo Cutugno.
