Vittorio Padovani, 47 years old, Deputy Quaestor

They die on December 15, shot dead by red brigadier Walter Alasia in Via Leopardi in Sesto San Giovanni (MI). That night, agents of the Security Service, the Political Office of the Milan Police Headquarters and the Commissariat of Sesto San Giovanni broke into the home of Alasia, believed to be an important member of the Red Brigades. The terrorist immediately reacts by firing at the officers, fatally injuring Deputy President Padovani. A violent shooting is unleashed. Marshal Bazzega, finding Alasia’s parents on his own line, does not shoot and the brigadier who fires at the police officer takes advantage of this, wounding him mortally. The terrorist launches out of the window and in the courtyard engages in a second shooting with the officers finally being killed. Deputy Quaestor Padovani dies during transport to the hospital. Marshal Sergio Bazzega dies in hospital, during a desperate surgical operation.
